For Americans, rust is usually only worth mentioning when you can put your fist through the metal (direct quote from a car seller here in Los Angeles). Of course, you also hear the other well-known fairy tales from sellers… the paint is usually described as original, the bodywork has no filler, and the car is of course always accident-free.
